With great emotion and gratitude, I am sharing the video recording of the deeply moving performance of my “Trisagion” for women’s (children’s) choir a cappella and solo violin, presented at the Berlin Cathedral on February 24, 2026.
I truly find myself at a loss for words to express my gratitude to everyone who organized and participated in today’s service for peace in Ukraine at the Berlin Cathedral - held on the tragic anniversary of the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, in memory of all Ukrainians who lost their lives in this war.
It was something extraordinary… So powerful, so sincere, so deeply moving - a living testimony to the invaluable support of Germany and its people for Ukraine and Ukrainians.I watched the entire live broadcast in one breath, and I am still overwhelmed. It was a shared prayer that spoke directly to the heart.
I feel deeply moved and incredibly honored to be a composer whose music was heard in such a magnificent cathedral, in such an inspired performance, and on such a meaningful day.
My special gratitude goes to the Staats- und Domchor Berlin under the direction of Kelley Sundin-Donig, to Kai-Uwe Jirka, to all choir members and instrumentalists - not only for today’s performance, but also for the two recent concerts at the Berlin Philharmonie within the programs of Maestro Kent Nagano. It is an extraordinary artistic gift to hear one’s music in this way.Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart!
Dear friends in Berlin, I warmly invite everyone to attend the service for peace in Ukraine on the occasion of the tragic anniversary of the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
On February 24, a service and commemoration of the Ukrainians who lost their lives in this war will take place at the Berlin Cathedral, with the participation of the children’s choirs of Sing-Akademie zu Berlin and Staats- und Domchor Berlin.
I am deeply grateful to Staats- und Domchor Berlin, conductor Kai-Uwe Jirka, and Sing-Akademie zu Berlin, conductor Kelley Sundin-Donig, for including my work “Trisagion” in the program - a piece I composed as the very first work after the outbreak of the war in 2022. I am also immensely thankful to the performers for having recently presented this work twice at the Berlin Philharmonie under the baton of Maestro Kent Nagano.
The event will be livestreamed on the official website of the Berlin Cathedral. The service begins at 19:00.We look forward to seeing you!
